Middlesex School Athletics

I am thrilled to learn of your interest in Middlesex and our girls' volleyball program. Volleyball was introduced to the Middlesex athletic program in the fall of 2013 competing at the junior varsity level. After an impressive season, we were excited to add a varsity team to our fall 2014 athletic offerings.  There are now over thirty girls playing in our program each year.

As a school, we compete in one of the premier leagues in New England, the Independent School League (ISL). We are also a member of the New England Girls' Prep School Volleyball Association (NEPSGVA) and play a competitive schedule with over twenty matches per season. We have already established ourselves as a strong program in New England, and we have claimed the ISL championship and the NEPSGVA Class B title in 2016. We desire to challenge for the ISL title each year as well as be a perennial playoff contender in NEPSGVA.
 
It is our aim as coaches to ensure that each individual has a positive and fulfilling experience on the team.  And while we continue to stress the honing of the fundamental skills of the game, we also place a strong emphasis on teamwork, camaraderie, resilience, hard work and sportsmanship. As is the Middlesex mission, we seek to "find the promise" in each of our athletes. We also have players that pursue collegiate volleyball opportunities, and our College Office and coaching staff support and advise those students in that process.
 
Volleyball has played a central part in my life since I was fourteen; I played on my high school's varsity team, and I continued to play club volleyball in college. In addition to coaching at Middlesex, I have been coaching a local juniors club volleyball team during the off-season since 2013, I coach junior beach doubles teams in the summer, and I still play in recreational leagues at least once a week as well as compete in doubles tournaments in the summers. Here at Middlesex, I also teach Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as coach tennis in the spring.
