OFFICIAL ATHLETICS WEBSITE OF MIDDLESEX SCHOOL

The Middlesex School Varsity Girls' Lacrosse team is one of the premier Independent School teams in New England. The Zebras are a frequent contender for the ISL Sportsmanship Award, as voted by all ISL schools. This honor exemplifies the essence of a Middlesex athlete: she is highly competitive, yet she plays with respect for her opponents and officials.

The Middlesex coaching staff focuses on a college-style game including strategies such as rides, creative settled attack patterns, and player-up/down strategies, and adjusting defensive units. The focus is always on the "team.” We rarely have one superstar in our program, instead functioning as a collective group of outstanding, hard-working, and dedicated athletes. The players are known for their unity on and off the field, strong work ethic, and commitment to the game. The team enjoys working at a high level each day, but they also have a lot of fun on and off the field. The Zebras practice several historic traditions throughout the season, but each year the senior class brings new energy and ideas that help shape the program. Although we play a very "team-oriented" style of play, several Middlesex players have been recognized within and outside of the league for outstanding play, including national All-American status and national Academic All-American squad recognition.

Throughout a player's career, the coaching staff works collaboratively with the college office to assist players wishing to play at the collegiate level. The Middlesex coaches help players set goals, communicate with coaches, set up visits, and organize appropriate tournament play by working cohesively with club and college coaches., Our goal is to help players determine the right fit-both academically and athletically. Many former players have continued their careers at the Division I and Division III collegiate level. Middlesex’s alumnae played or are currently competing at the University of North Carolina, Northwestern, Stanford, Navy, Georgetown, Yale, Cornell, Brown, Penn, Michigan, Princeton, Colgate, Bucknell, and UVM. On the Division III level, Middlesex graduates have played at Middlebury, Bowdoin, Gettysburg, Williams, Bates, Connecticut College, Union, Trinity, Amherst, Washington and Lee, and Tufts.

Middlesex boasts a powerful lacrosse coaching staff. Head coach Natalie Martinez was a lacrosse All-American and captain at Tufts University, and completed her career playing for the University of Virginia. Katie Herter Bruch, a Bowdoin graduate and All-American, adds valuable depth to the coaching staff. Most importantly, the lacrosse coaches are determined to help develop strong, passionate, healthy, confident, and team-oriented young women that are ready to meet new challenges and opportunities beyond Middlesex, as both athletes and citizens.,
