OFFICIAL ATHLETICS WEBSITE OF MIDDLESEX SCHOOL

The Middlesex field hockey program is one steeped in tradition and success.  In the past twenty seasons, the team has captured ISL championships, New England Championships and an overall 296-93-35 record.   Making numerous New England Tournament appearances, Middlesex field hockey is one of the most accomplished programs in New England. Most recently, the Middlesex squad captured the New England Championship in 2023 and ISL Championship in 2023 & 2024 and the New England Championship Runner-Up Title in 2021, 2022 & 2024.  In addition, the Zebras were awarded the ISL Sportsmanship Award three times since 2005, with the last time being in 2022.  This distinction, as voted by all ISL schools, demonstrates the fair play exhibited by our athletes.

The field hockey program has a strong tradition of team unity and synergy on and off the playing field. The players are known not only for their strong work ethic, commitment, and competitiveness, but also for their kind and welcoming nature.  They push each other on the field to be their best, while being supportive and positive. They possess the growth mindset, hoping to improve their individual skills and team play each practice and game. Every member of the team has an important role and is immensely valuable for the overall success of the program. They show the utmost respect, kindness and love towards each other and the game. Before each game, the girls remind each other to “play with and for each other.”

Through the dutiful guidance of both the coaching staff and college office, many Middlesex field hockey players have gone on to play at the Division III and Division I collegiate level.  Our most recent graduates play or have played at Princeton, Dartmouth, Harvard, Cornell, UPenn, Bowdoin, Bates, Lafayette, Conn College, Northeastern, Middlebury, Colby, Williams, Tufts, Dickinson, Trinity and Washington & Lee.

The Middlesex field hockey program consists of two teams, which lends to a strong feeder system for the Varsity level.  The Sub-Varsity program is run in conjunction with Varsity to prepare players for the next level.  The two teams practice on Middlesex’s state-of-the-art turf fields.  The Sub-Varsity coaches teach fundamental skills and the Varsity team focuses on a fast-moving game with the implementation of college-level skills and strategies in practices and games.

I have been coaching at Middlesex since 2015 and I am joined by Emma Rasmussen, who came to Middlesex in 2014. Both Emma and I played at NESCAC colleges, captained our respective teams and earned numerous league and national accolades. We look forward to meeting you and having you visit campus.
