OFFICIAL ATHLETICS WEBSITE OF MIDDLESEX SCHOOL

Boys' Crew at Middlesex began in 1904, shortly after the school’s founding in 1901. Middlesex’s second headmaster coached during the program’s inaugural years and built a program that continues to be an integral part of Middlesex’s history and character. The program’s competitiveness among New England schools developed early on, and is carried on every year by a dedicated group of young men in dual races and at the end-of-year New England Interscholastic Regatta.

Middlesex rowers are a motivated and tight-knit group who stand out as highly respected leaders within the Middlesex School community. Both as students and as graduates, they exhibit a high level of devotion to their sport, often choosing to attend rowing camps during the summer months, and in many cases, to continue their rowing careers in college at schools such as Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Trinity, Bucknell, and McGill. The team has raced recently at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in England and races annually within the most competitive high school rowing league in the country.  Over the years, an active alumni base and parental support have resulted in a program with top-of-the-line equipment, and most recently, a brand new boathouse on the nearby Concord River, which has generated great excitement among both rowers and coaches alike, and helped to support a program that is consistently 8 to 10 boats deep.

We welcome athletes to the program of all skill levels, from novice to experienced rowers and coxswains.  It is our intention to develop superior student-athletes who will not only become life-long devotees to the sport of rowing, but also individuals of strong moral character who support the growth of the team, and the larger Middlesex community.
