CONCORD, Mass. - Governor's Academy jumped out to a 21-0 lead and then held off Middlesex for a 35-17 win over the Zebras on Garretson Field on Saturday afternoon.

Middlesex's offense stalled on its opening drive, and the Govs capitalized with a 36-yard touchdown pass to take an early 7-0 lead.

Following a Middlesex turnover, Governors added a 15-yard rushing touchdown to extend the advantage to 14-0 and then Governors struck again with an 85-yard touchdown pass to take a 21-0 lead.

The hosts responded as Alejandro Pimentel (Lawrence, Mass.) connected with Owen Beauvais (Sudbury, Mass.), who broke multiple tackles on his way to a 57-yard touchdown. However, Governors returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, taking a 28-7 lead into halftime.

Middlesex continued to fight in the second half and when Will Schuler (Winchester, Mass.) came up with a big interception to give the Zebras defense a boost. Then, just three plays later, Pimentel found Beauvais once again and Beauvis broke free for a 68-yard touchdown, bringing Middlesex to within two scores at 28-14.

Next, the Middlesex defense forced a three and out that helped set up a field goal to cut the deficit to 28-17 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter.

However, Governors added a fourth quarter touchdown to extend their lead to 35-17 and secure the victory.

Middlesex will look to bounce back next week when it hosts Brooks on October 17 at 2:30 PM on Garrettson Field.
