Football Topples Groton, 41-12

11/4/2025 10:00:00 AM

GROTON, Mass. - For the second consecutive week, the Middlesex football team overcame a slow start and posted a victory, this time besting ISL rival Groton, 41-12 to improve their record to 4-3 on the year. It marked the third time this season that the Zebras offense topped 30 points or more.

Groton returned the opening kickoff across the 50 yard line and advanced the ball into the red zone but a fumble stopped their drive and gave the ball to Middlesex. The offense then engineered an eight-play drive that ended with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Luke Felago (Duxbury, Mass.) to Frankie Forrest (Norwood, Mass.).

Groton responded with a drive that ate up nearly ten minutes and covered 75 yards and they tied the score 6-6 with 6:45 remaining in the first half.

Middlesex responded immediately, with a 48-yard touchdown run by Forrest. The extra point by Sam Elfner (Cohasset, Mass.) made the score 13-6 at the half.

Coming out of halftime, Middlesex scored quickly again, as Forrest capped a two-play drive with a 31-yard touchdown scamper to increase the lead to 20-6.

After Groton was pinned deep in their own territory by terrific coverage by the kickoff team, they went three and out and Forrest returned the punt inside the Groton ten yard line. Felago then found Mekhi Eady (Athol, Mass.) for a five-yard touchdown pass and the score was 27-6.

After another Groton three and out, Forrest fielded a punt at the 36-yard line and weaved through Groton players from the left side of the field to the right side and into the endzone, making it 34-6 through three quarters.

Conor Fox (Hanover, Mass.) barreled in from eight yards out and Groton scored on the final play of the contest to make the final margin 41-12.

Middlesex will complete their season with their 199th meeting against rival St. George's on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
