The Zebras were excited to welcome the Cushing Penguins for their official home opener on the beautiful, new Landry turf. The first quarter was very back-and-forth and the Zebras had to adjust to some very fast and explosive forwards on the Cushing team. However, in the second quarter the team found their rhythm by utilizing their outside middies. Junior, Ali Marsters and first year, Tessa Rusconi were able to beautifully bring the ball up the field connecting nicely with their forwards. This allowed for the Zebras to find the back of the cage twice, making it 2-0 going into half time. The Zebras controlled much of the second half of the game, creating many different types of scoring opportunities from corners, to fast breaks to scrums in the circle. The game ended at 5-0, with junior, Lily McTeague netting a hatrick and sophomore, Avery Sweson dishing out 3 assists. The Zebras look forward to their first ISL match up against St. Mark's on Saturday.
