The Middlesex Football team turned in its most complete performance of the year against Groton on Friday, November 1 and the result was a 47-8 victory that improved their record to 6-1.

Middlesex took the opening kickoff and marched 58 yards on a drive that culminated in a one yard touchdown run by junior running back Frankie Forrest. Sam Elfner's extra point made the score 7-0.

Groton fumbled the ensuing kickoff and it was recovered by Caleb Mitchell. Middlesex made it hurt, as senior tight end Alex Clapp hauled in a 35 yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Luke Felago and Elfner's extra point made it 14-0 just over three and a half minutes into the contest.

Middlesex forced a three and out and scored on a five play drive that was capped by a 43 yard catch and run by senior wide receiver Xavier Hazard. Elfner's kick made it 21-0 with 3:43 left in the first quarter.

Groton advanced into Middlesex territory on their next drive but turned the ball over on downs at the 40 yard line. Two players later, Forrest broke free on a 60 yard touchdown scamper. A missed extra point made it 27-0 Middlesex with 9:47 to go in the first half and Hazard scored again on a 20 yard pass from Felago just before the half to bring the halftime score to 33-0.

In the second half, senior tight end Luke Warzynski and freshman running back Conor Fox each scored their first career touchdowns and Groton got on the board with a 35 yard run to bring the final tally to 47-8.

Middlesex will wrap up the regular season against rival St. George's on Saturday, November 9. Kick off is set for 11 am at St. George's.
