With the excitement of fall long weekend in the air, the Zebras took the field against a well-rounded and athletic Groton squad. Middlesex gained the momentum early with great plays up the wing by sophomore Ali Marsters. However, at the end of the first quarter, Groton regained the momentum and earned a stroke. Senior goalie, Regan Fitzgerald turned away the shot and the Zebras were grateful for the end of the first quarter so they could regroup. In the second quarter, Middlesex found the back of the cage twice due to gritty play in the circle, particularly against a very talented Groton goalie. In the second half the Zebras maintained the pressure. Regan Fitzgerald was steady in cage as she turned away a flurry of Groton shots towards the end of the game. The Zebras are excited to be at home again against a talented Andover squad on Wednesday for the annual "play for pink" game.Â
