This Saturday, we hosted Thayer Academy. Another gorgeous day on the courts. Co-captains Neha and Marissa came out strong, letting very few points slip through, showing concentration and mental toughness even with swarms of pestering spring bugs. Neha didn't lose a game, beating her opponent 6-0, 6-0 and Marissa only dropped one game with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Our other players started off slow but came to fight. The best thing as a coach is when you see a player never give up and figure out their strategy to battle back after losing the first sets. Sophia Schubnel, despite having a cold, came to play, figuring out that she could outlast her opponent in some epic points, some lasting over 50 rallies' back and forth. Same for Antonia Baylor, figuring out what she needed to do after a defeating first set, she was determined. Although the tie-breaker didn't go by way of the Zebras, her fortitude was a testament to sheer determination.

Behind when starting the doubles, we needed to win all three, but came just short of that, winning two of the three. Some great points and we can walk away knowing we put our best feet forward; we will work on court positioning and communication and channeling our inner beast-mode for our future matches.
