MX Girls' Varsity Hockey wasted no time getting started this season with co-captain Charlotte Hinckley '23 scoring 24 seconds into the first period on an assist from Finley Crosby '25 and Ella McTeague '23. SEVEN new players made their GVH debut! Lily McTeague (F) '26, Ali Marsters (F) '26, Janie Martin (F) '26, Alex Hood (F) '26, Luisa Ferrari (D) '26, Cassidy Bruno (F) '26, and Vivienne Cook (G) '25.
The team continued to put pressure on Kents Hill with newcomer Lily McTeague '26 netting her first career goal on an assist from Alex Hood '26, also new to the team. The Zebras dominated the offensive zone and found the back of the net for a third time, capitalizing on a 2 on 1 rush up the ice. Cassidy Bruno '26 found Janie Martin '26 in the neutral zone to create a fast break where Janie fed a beautiful pass to Olivia Vlacich '24 who onetimed the puck past the Kents Hill goaltender.
The second period got off to a rocky start with Kents Hill trapping the Zebras in the defensive zone for the first two minutes of play. But new goaltender Vivienne Cook '25 kept her composure and made some key saves. Once Middlesex settled down and began focusing on making the simple plays, play returned to the Kents Hill defensive zone. Middlesex continued to play with speed, forcing Kents Hill to take a few penalties. Lily McTeague '26 again found the back of the net on the power-play off a pass from senior co-captain Caroline Cervini '23. The Zebras continued to move the puck well and scored two more goals before the end of the period. Katie Athanasoulas '24 scored her first career goal on an assist from linemates Alex Hood '26 and Avery Taylor '24. The bench erupted with excitement for Katie and this hard earned goal. Olivia Vlacich '24 also netted her second goal of the night following great puck movement from Bruno '26 and Martin '26
Ellie Calo '25 scored the lone goal of the third period after a gritty net front battle to bury the rebound on a shot from Marsters '26. Thirteen different players tallied a point in tonight's game, with every offensive line scoring at least one goal. A huge team win overall and a great way to start the season. Go Zebras!
