It was a hot yet gorgeous Saturday, when the Middlesex Zebras battled the St. Mark's Lions. From the first whistle, it was clear that the game was going to be a back and forth fight as both teams had athletic and fast players. The Zebras found the back of the cage first off of a beautiful corner shot by senior Ellie Barton and deflection from sophomore Molly Nye. This pretty goal allowed the Zebras to maintain possession for the rest of the half, and they put one more in to make it 2-0 at half-time. However, the Lions readjusted and controlled the pace of play in the 3rd quarter, forcing the Zebras to readjust their approach on free hits. Unfortunately, the Lions found the back of the cage in the 3rd quarter off of a scrum in front of the net. That goal woke up the Zebras, who found a renewed energy and returned to their game plan and sound passing patterns. Senior Abby Pratt was able to find the back of the cage once in the 3rd quarter. The final score was 4-1. This was an exciting ISL victory for the Zebras who have not beaten St. Marks since 2015. The team is ready for their next challenge at home on Wednesday against a red hot Tabor squad.Â
