It was an overcast yet warm day at Landry turf when the Zebras took on the visiting Exeter squad. From the first whistle, the Zebras exploded up the field, using their speed and passing connections to create many scoring opportunities. It was not long until sophomore Molly Nye was off on a breakaway after a great defensive stop by sophomore, Elsa Landy. Nye brought the ball up the field and after an initial scrum, senior Abby Pratt found the back of the cage. The Zebras scored 3 more times from three different players before the end of the first half. MX came out of half time still looking to capitalize in the circle which led to some beautiful passing from left to right. However, the Exeter team did not back down and capitalized on some defensive breakdowns and scored three quick goals in the 3rd quarter. Luckily the defensive poise of seniors Holly Levasseur and Brooke Nye, kept Exeter at bay in the 4th quarter. The Zebras regained the momentum in the 4th quarter and the game ended 7-3. It was a high scoring and fun day of Middlesex field hockey. The team is excited to travel to St. Marks, a powerful ISL opponent, on Saturday.Â
