On a perfect fall afternoon, the Middlesex Zebras took the field against Class-A powerhouse Tabor. The first quarter saw a lot of back and forth play between the two teams who possessed gritty and strong forwards, skilled and relentless midfielders, and poised defenders. However, with five minutes remaining in the half, the Zebras had a beautiful transition up the field, which started on a 16 yard hit from first year, Finley Crosby. Seniors Brooke Nye and Ellie Barton and sophomore Molly Nye executed some flawless inside-outside passing before finding sophomore Siena Berardinelli, who crushed the ball into the back of the cage. The Zebras were able to maintain their momentum for the rest of the half. However, halftime was a chance for Tabor to regroup, and they did just that, scoring off of a breakaway in the first minute of the second half. From that point on, the Zebras found themselves playing tentatively, on their heels, and were unable to answer after Tabor's second goal in the 3rd quarter. As time wound down, the Zebras picked up the pace and regained the momentum but time expired too soon. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the team and fun to play against such a talented and athletic team. The players look to refocus and re-energize for another home game against Milton on Saturday.
