Everyone was excited to open the 2019 Football Season today against Roxbury Latin. As the old saying goes, defense is always ahead of the offense in the early season.  No truer words could have been said about this game.  The defenses commanded the field, as both offenses moved the ball but never had the consistency to finish a drive.  Both teams had opportunities to score but at the end of four quarters it was still 0-0.  In the first overtime period, the MX defense continued to hold RL scoreless but unfortunately the MX offense was not able to produce any points.  In the second and final overtime period, the MX offense had an early turnover leaving the fate of the game in the defense's hands.  Again the defense rose to the occasion, holding RL to a fourth down field goal try that was wide right. Ending the game in a 0-0 tie.  Credit has to go to our defensive unit for their hard work and dedicated effort throughout the game and two overtimes.  That unit was led by our defensive line group of Julian Farr '20. Wes Capitani '20, Nick DeBruin '22, Kevin Ma '22, Peter Sleeper '22. Aaron Peroni '20 and Michael Conde '20.  Linebackers Joe Belsanti '21, Axel Romell '21, Sahnai Swain-Price '21, Liam Alley '21 joined our secondary of Cole Nye '20, Colin Cunningham '20 and Cedrick Paradis '20 in the shutout.  Our next game will be next Saturday, as the team travels to Lawrence Academy for a 2:00 pm game.
