The Middlesex Zebras traveled to New Hampshire on Saturday to battle the New Hampton Huskies. Both teams came out ready to fight but New Hampton controlled the play for the first ten minutes due to their speed on the wings and sharp transfers. After Middlesex made some nice adjustments, the Zebra's started to gain some offensive momentum and put one in the back of the net with 12 minutes remaining in the first half. The Huskies never let down and quickly responded with a goal of their own off of a beautiful corner shot bringing the score to a tie at the half. Middlesex came out particularly hungry in the second half with nice passing combinations and feisty 1v1 defense. After a beautiful passing sequence up the right side of the field led by seniors Dahlia Galante and Syd MacKeigan, the Zebra's earned a series of corners, which eventually led to the winning goal by first year Sage Piekarski. Towards the end of the game, the Zebra's were playing on their heals as the Huskies picked up their offensive fire. However, Middlesex was able to maintain the lead after a few clutch saves from sophomore goalie, Dani Lawton. The girls are excited to be back at home on Wednesday to play Exeter.
