Middlesex traveled to face a very strong Belmont Hill team (10-2 ISL, 11-2 overall) on Saturday, May 19.  The Zebras opened the scoring in the 1st quarter, but Belmont then scored 4 in a row, and the 1st quarter ended 4-1.  In the 2nd quarter, Middlesex started to come back and the 1st half ended 5-4 in favor of Belmont Hill. In the 3rd quarter, Middlesex scored first to tie the game at 5-5, Belmont then retook the lead at 6-5, and Middlesex scored 2 in a row to take the lead at 7-6. Belmont tied the game at 7-7, which is how we ended the 3rd. In the 4th quarter, the teams went back and forth trading goals and ended regulation tied at 9-9. Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the 1st overtime. In the 2nd overtime, Belmont capitalized on an offsides and subsequent quick re-start to get the game winner.  Individually, the standout players for Middlesex were Mike Allieri (18 saves), Harry Friedman (won 63% of the faceoffs) Zack Goorno (2g, 2a), Cole Nye (1g, 1a), Will McCarthy (2g) and Casey Gillis (2g). The defensive unit played very well. Middlesex is looking forward to hosting an excellent Governor's team at home on Wednesday, May 22.
