Girls' Varsity Tennis Sweeps Tabor

4/13/2019 12:10:00 PM

The Middlesex School Girls' Varsity Tennis team won its match Wednesday afternoon 15 - 0 against Tabor. It was a great team win in which every player able to compete scored at least a point toward the overall victory!

Senior captain Maud McCole led the Zebras for the sweep starting with singles. Both sets were captured in matches by McCole at #1 singles, freshmen Marissa Fadely and Neha Kommineni at #2 and #3 respectively, Averill Emery '20 at #4, Jessie Andrews '21 at #5, and Margaret Rand '19 #6. From top to bottom, our players worked on honing their focus on the court, improving their footwork, and being savvy to strategically place their shots.

As teams went on for doubles, the overall win was already secured by Middlesex. The coach and spectators were proud of how our doubles demonstrated great team work and showed excellent communication and collaboration working together to win points. Sets were won by Fadely and Kommineni at #1, Emery and rookie Katy Qin '21 at #2, and rookies Sophia Schubnel '22 and Julia Li '21 at #3.

The team will go to watch a college women's match at Tufts tomorrow afternoon and get in one more practice before traveling to Dedham Saturday to face Nobles.
