12/5/2019 12:10:00 PM

The Middlesex Girls' Varsity Hockey team traveled to Newton Country Day Wednesday afternoon to start the 2019-2020 season. The Zebras opened the scoring in the first ten seconds of the game as junior Izzy Allieri slipped the puck past the NCD goalie for the 1-0 lead. Assist credited to Kiley Briand '20. After some back and forth play, MX added their second goal with 4:18 remaining the first when Briand collected a pass from Allieri and buried the puck for a 2-0 lead. A little under thirty seconds later, senior Ali Joseph added her first of the season, assisted by Briand and Allieri. As the period came to a close, the Zebras continued to press and Allieri tipped the puck past the hosts with four seconds remaining on the lock for a 4-0 lead. In the second, Middlesex came out flying again, connecting on passes through the neutral zone and possessing the puck all over the ice. Briand scored her second of the day for a 5-0 lead and finished with a hatrick on a goal in the third, assisted by freshman Caroline Cervini and Allieri. Middlesex goaltenders Daisy Boynton '20 and Morgan Clapp '22 combined for the shutout victory.

Next up, Middlesex hosts Kents Hill on Friday afternoon at 4:00PM in their home opener.
