Middlesex Varsity Field Hockey faced off against powerhouse Phillips Andover for the annual "pink game," which raises awareness and money for breast cancer research. The Zebras, wearing their pink pinnies and socks, played some of their best field hockey of the year. Their strong steps to the ball, led by junior, Olivia McCabe, and senior, Dahlia Galante, and tight marking in the marking in the circle by sophomore Holly Levasseur, and senior Riley Galizio, thwarted any attack by Andover. After Andover's goalie made an amazing save on a breakaway by first year, Sage Piekarski, Middlesex earned a series of offensive corners, one of which hit the post. Finally, Sage Piekarski tipped a hard shot ball by sophomore, Brooke Nye, perfectly between the legs of the Andover goalie, making the game 1-0. The rest of the game was very back and forth and much of it was played between the 25 yard lines. Sophomore goalie, Dani Lawton, turned away some difficult Andover shots in the last few minutes, preserving the shutout. The Zebras hope to take this momentum into Saturday when they will face off against another consistently strong class A team, Nobles.Â
