The Middlesex Zebras were hungry to play the Milton mustangs on Saturday. Milton controlled the play for the first few minutes, but eventually the Zebras created some momentum due to creative passing by sophomore, Ellie Barton and senior, Anna Simmons. Unfortunately, 18 minutes into the game, Milton earned a flurry of corners, eventually scoring on one. But the Zebras did not back down, and responded with a goal of their own, by freshman Sage Piekarski, about 5 minutes later. The score was tied at half. Both teams created their own chances in the second half, but neither found the back of the cage so the game went into OT. The Zebras had two opportunities early but the mustangs capitalized on a breakdown, and perfectly executed a 2v1 down the field and put the game winner in the back of the cage. While the Zebras were disappointed with the final result, the girls played a complete game, and the growth from the beginning of the season was evident all over the field. They are back on the road against  Lawrence on Wednesday.Â
