The Middlesex Girls' Varsity Hockey lost in a competitive game against Thayer this past Saturday. Middlesex got on the board earlier when Izzy Allieri scored a short-handed goal assisted by Ali Joseph. Thayer answered back quickly and managed to net three goals before the end of the first period. Middlesex picked up the intensity in the second and third period and pressured Thayer relentlessly all over the ice. During the third period, Middlesex got back on the scoreboard again when Kiley Briand ticked the puck past the Thayer goalie after an amazing set of passes from Allieri and Joseph. Thayer managed to score another goal to take a two goal lead. The the last two minutes, Middlesex pulled the goalie on the power play and managed to score on a slap shot from the point only to have the refs call the goal back. Thayer then scored on the open net in the final second of the game. Middlesex will be back in action against Groton next Wednesday.
