Middlesex faced a gritty and well-coached Brooks squad on Wednesday but came away with a 9-4 victory. The first half was relatively even until late in the 2nd quarter when MX notched a couple goals and went into halftime up 5-3. We were able to build off this momentum and managed to outscore Brooks 3-0 to go up 8-3 by the end of the 3rd quarter. In the 4th, Brooks was able to possess the ball for long stretches due to some penalties and failed clears and the two teams scored a goal apiece. Brooks was led by a terrific midfield group and a pair of extremely athletic, talented defenders and were, overall, a great test for the team. The Middlesex offense was paced by Zack Goorno (2G, 2A) but got contributions by 7 different players on our 9 goals. The defense and goaltending were superb, especially in the second half when it yielded a single goal. Middlesex squares off against an excellent Belmont Hill team on Saturday and will look to extend its 4-game win streak.Â
