The Middlesex Girls' Hockey team lost last Friday in a nail-biter against Rivers. Middlesex got on the scoreboard first on a power play when Izzy Allieri '21 tucked the puck past the goalie on an assist from Ali Joseph '20. Rivers responded later in the period with a goal of their own, tying the game. In the second period, Rivers notched two more goals to take the lead 3-1. During the third period, Middlesex battled back and pummeled the Rivers goalies with shots. During the last two minutes of the game, Middlesex pulled the goalie to get a 6th player on the ice and Allieri scored again on another assist from Joseph to make the score 2-3. Hoping for a second 6v5 goal, Middlesex pulled the goalie again, but Rivers was able to sneak another goal in on the empty net to make the scored 4-2. Both teams played fantastic hockey and the game was full of excitement, speed, and countless scoring opportunities. Middlesex will square off against Williston on Friday at the Harrington Holiday Tournament.Â
