Middlesex took the field on Saturday against a very talented and athletic Brooks team. At the first whistle, Brooks began to put pressure on the Middlesex defense and the Zebras had trouble clearing the ball from their end due to Brooks' ability to cover every passing lane. However, the defense led by senior, Alex Fehnel, and first year, Holly Levasseur, stopped many of Brooks' initial shots. Brooks was awarded a penalty stroke 8 minutes into the game and beautifully placed it into the bottom left corner. Unfortunately, it was hard for the Zebras to bounce back and they gave up 3 more goals by the end of the half. Middlesex came out revitalized in the second half. Not only did the Zebras create many more scoring opportunities of their own but they had some key saves from senior goalie, Isabella Costantino, who stopped Brooks' second penalty stroke of the game. Even though Brooks continued to lay on the pressure, Middlesex never stopped fighting and played with heart, grit, and determination. They look forward to playing Governor's on Wednesday.
