The Middlesex Varsity Field Hockey team was ready to battle against the Lawrence Academy Spartans in Concord on Wednesday. Due to increased communication and smooth passing sequences, the Zebra's created many scoring opportunities in the first half. Middlesex found the back of the cage off of a tip by first year, Brooke Nye, with about 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Lawrence came out strong in the second half but a stingy defense led by seniors Alex Fehnel and Angelina DeVellis stopped many of the Spartan's fast break opportunities. Lawrence was awarded a stroke 10 minutes into the second half and beautifully found the back of the cage. Regular time ended in a 1-1 tie. Middlesex had many more scoring chances in the 7v7 overtime but neither team was able to find the back of the cage, ending with a draw. The Zebra's are hoping to bring their positive momentum to Brooks on Saturday.
