Our home opener against Rivers was again dominated by the defenses in the early going. River opened the scoring in the second quarter on a drive that ended on a 4 yard run, giving Rivers an 8-0 lead. The MX offense immediately responded with a Liam Connor '22, 27 yard field goal to cut the lead to 8-3. MX was not finished scoring, just before half time quarterback Cole Cleary '20 connected on a TD pass to wide receiver Cedrick Paradis '20. With Connor adding the PAT, MX took the lead into half time 10-8. In the second half, MX played tremendous defense and the game would be left in their hands, as the MX offense had a couple of long drives but could not add to the lead. Finally, in the fourth quarter, after the MX defense had lost two of their defensive linemen to leg injuries, Rivers rallied to score and win the contest 14-10. Senior captain Kabelo Tsotetsi '19 ran for 112 yards to lead the offense. Our defensive unit played an incredible game and should be recognized for their efforts: linemen Julian Farr '20, captain Derek DeLaine '19, Alek Kebabjian '20, Michael Conde '20, Wes Capitani '20-linebackers Axel Romell '21, Sahnai Swain-Price '21, Liam Alley '21, Max Bensley '21 and secondary Cedrick Paradis '20, Joey Belsanti '21, Cole Nye '20. The team will travel to St. Mark's this coming Saturday for a 3:30PM start.
