Girls' Varsity Hockey Edged at Proctor, 2-1

12/6/2017 10:14:00 PM

The Middlesex Girls' Varsity Hockey team played a hard fought game against Proctor Academy Wednesday evening and came up short in the final seconds of the game. The game was a scoreless battle for the first two periods, and Middlesex pressured relentlessly and but couldn't find the back of the net. During the third period, Middlesex finally put a point on the scoreboard by scoring on the power play. Kiley Briand sniped the top corner past the goalie's glove after being fed the puck by Ali Joseph and Izzy Allieri. After a few minutes, Proctor answered back with a goal that tied the game. Both teams battled back and forth in the waning minutes of the game, and both goalies denied multiple offensive opportunities. Proctor got a fast break in the last moments and managed to put the puck home and snagged the win. Middlesex played hard all over the ice and Caroline Silk had a great game in net. The girls will be back in action on Friday with a home game against Rivers.
