The Middlesex Zebras opened the 2016 campaign with a decisive win over Dana Hall on the road. Although the grass surface was challenging initially, the Zebras adjusted quickly and almost immediately began peppering the Dana Hall goalie with shots. Senior Helen Chase notched the first tally of the season just minutes in off a pass from fellow senior Sage Nye. Despite several opportunities, the Zebras did not find the back of the net again until the last six minutes of play off a shot from the top of the circle. In the final seconds of the first half, Carly Kreytak converted a Caroline Silk pass to take a 3-0 lead. In the second half of the game, the Zebras continued to dominate and their efforts led to three more goals in the first fifteen minutes of play. Stella Noels scored the fourth goal, Chase added her second with 20:25 remaining and new ninth grader Dahlia Galante rounded out the scoring with her first career goal.
Siobhan Morrissey, Brenna Chitkara, Alex Fehnel, and Lily Jarrett played solid defense with goalies Cece DeSimone and Isabella Costantino to secure the shutout for the team. The Zebras look forward to their first Class A match up on Saturday, September 17, when they travel to Tabor Academy.
