Girls' Varsity Tennis Falls to Nobles

4/17/2016 6:28:00 AM

The Girls' Varsity Tennis team lost the match against Nobles 1 - 14 on our home court. Conditions were great with sunny skies, temperatures in the high 50s, and very little wind. It was the first home match played outdoors, and the team could feel the love from the many Middlesex friends, families, and faculty who attended to show their support.
The Zebras have been getting prepared to take on some of the toughest competitors in the league with training geared toward teamwork in doubles and aggressiveness and mental toughness in singles play. Though Middlesex was ultimately overpowered by the Nobles lineup, the scores do not show the many close points and games that were fought throughout the match.
A highlight of the afternoon was junior Caroline Reynolds, playing #4 singles, who despite a close loss in her first set (5 - 7), went into her second set determined to win. She shifted her mental game and focus to be more aggressive, and her risks paid off, as she clinched the second set (6 - 4) putting herself and her team on the board.
The players look forward to getting some rest during the long weekend for Patriots' Day and returning to put in a hard, competitive practice before facing last year's ISL champions at Milton.
