Girls' Hockey Tripped Up By Rivers at Southfield Holiday Tournament

12/16/2016 9:04:00 PM

After a long week of final exams, the Middlesex Girls' Varsity Hockey team traveled to the Southfield Holiday Tournament to face ISL rival Rivers in a rematch of last Friday night's game. Rivers struck first off a goal by Camille Phelan in the first period. Middlesex was quick to respond just a minute later off a goal by sophomore Carly Kreytak, assisted by junior Itsy Seeman. With three minutes remaining the first period, Rivers snuck a forward by the MX defense and the hosts took a 2-1 lead into the break. Three minutes into the second, MX tied the game at two with a goal by Riley Galizio '20, assisted by Kiley Briand '20, but several defensive miscommunications by the Zebras led to four unanswered goals as Rivers went on to win 6-2. Junior goalkeeper Caroline Silk recorded 46 saves. The Zebras will look to rebound quickly with two final games in 2016.
