Middlesex had a slow start, in a short week Friday afternoon game with Nobles. By the middles of the 1st quarter, an errant MX punt snap and a long TD run play by Nobles had the MX 11 down 9-0. The offense was set up in great field position when safety Rory Glavin '17 intercepted a pass and returned it to the Nobles 27-yard line. On first down, QB Derek DeMarzo '18 threw a strike to Glavin and Pat McGann's '18 kick trimmed the deficit to 9-7. In the second quarter, Nobles would break another run for a TD but MX would answer again with a drive that combined both the run and pass ending with a DeMarzo 4-yard run. With the PAT, Nobles lead was cut to 16-14. Unfortunately, just before half Nobles would complete a long pass for another TD to extend their lead to 23-14. In the second half, the MX defense continued to compete, stopping Nobles on three 4th down drives but the Noble's size and running game would produce two more scores and a 39-14 victory.
Middlesex will travel to Newport this coming Saturday for the annual rivalry game with St. George's at 2:00 PM.
