Middlesex Football entered the second game of the season against St. Sebastian's with a limited roster due to injuries and sickness. The most affected areas were the offensive and defensive lines, so many of the younger players had to jump into starting roles for this game.
St. Sebastian's wasted little time in exploiting our weaknesses as they jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead. In the second quarter, both the MX defense and offense scored touchdowns but St. Sebastian's added two more scores to bring the score to 35-14 at half. Middlesex got on the board when linebacker Kai Morris '18 stripped the ball from a St. Sebastian's runner and returned the fumble 76 yards for our first touchdown, Pat McGann '18 added the kick. Just before half time, the MX offense added another score when Rory Glavin '17 took a pass from quarterback Derek DeMarzo '18 and out ran the defense for a 15-yard touchdown, McGann again added the PAT.
The second half was scoreless until the end of the third quarter but from that point on, St. Sebastian's depth was too much for the MX offense to mount another scoring drive and the depleted defense allowed two more touchdowns for a final score. MX will host Thayer Academy this coming Saturday at 2:30.
