The second Friday game of the season, just before a well-deserved long weekend, started off with great promise as the MX 11 got on the board in the 1st quarter on a 36-yard touchdown run by Kabelo Tsotetsi '19. Pat McGann '18 added the PAT kick for a 7-0 lead.  It took Groton until halfway into the 2nd quarter to get their offense underway but the hosts were able to tie the score at 7-7 on a long run.  A mistake on special teams set up Groton's second score, giving them a very short field and a 2-yard run to take the lead 14-7 just before the half.  The MX defense played well in the first half and continued their tough play through the 3rd quarter, causing their third turnover and setting the offense up to tie the score at 14-14 on a 12-yard TD pass from QB Derek DeMarzo '18 to WR Rory Glavin '17.  In the 4th quarter, a turnover by the offense and spotty play by the special teams provided Groton with short fields and they scored two 4th quarter touchdowns on short runs to take a 27-14 lead.  The MX offense answered one of those scores on a 26-yard touchdown pass from DeMarzo to Glavin to cut the lead to 6 points 27-21.  But the onside kick failed and Groton was able to run out the clock. Middlesex will take on St. Mark's this coming Saturday at home on Parents' Weekend.
