As appropriately forecasted, the Middlesex and Governor's Field Hockey game was a battle until the final seconds of play. With much of the action between the 25 yard lines, both teams fought relentlessly to maintain possession and create offensive surges. Middlesex's defensive coverage was water-tight for much of the game and the defensive corner team fended off a powerful Governors offensive corner team for all but one corner when the opponents scored on a rebound and a lifted shot. Goalie Cecelia DeSimone got a piece of the powerful shot, but unfortunately, it still found the back of the Middlesex goal. For the remainder of the game, the play was back and forth, and in the final minute, the Zebras earned a man up offensive rush and nearly scored the equalizer. Although Middlesex was disappointed with the 0-1 loss, it was a terrific game played with heart and grit. Middlesex will look to rebound against Groton on Friday, October 14.
