Boys' varsity lacrosse went to Southborough to play their first game of the season on Saturday. The two teams traded goals in the first half with Middlesex getting the last one to go up 3-2 at halftime. The Zebras extended the lead to 5-2 with two very nice transition goals by the end of the third quarter. However, miscues and stingy defense on the part of the St. Mark's defenders precluded Middlesex from scoring again, although the Zebras hit a number of posts throughout the games. With
3:46 left St. Mark's tied the game on a man-up opportunity. As luck would have it, MX went two men down going into the last minute when St. Mark's scored the go ahead goal and eventual game winner. The Zebras defense played well today and Brian Powers, Sam Carlin, and James Sanderson controlled the transition game. MX will look ahead to St. Paul's
next Wednesday for the the home opener.
