Girls' Varsity Lacrosse Tripped Up by Thayer

4/21/2015 10:00:00 AM

In a tale of two halves, the Zebras battled an explosive Thayer team.  Middlesex won the ground ball game and draw controls in the first half and took advantage of the attacking opportunities, finishing the play on several possessions.  With a one goal lead at halftime, the Zebras were energized for the second half.  However, three key players on the Thayer team made several excellent plays, gaining possession on many draw controls and causing turnovers, limiting the Zebras offensive opportunities.  The Zebras defensive unit made adjustments, but had difficulty fending off the potent Thayer attack.  Although the second half was not typical Middlesex play, a few players put up terrific stats this game.  Kat Barry led the attack with three goals and seven different players added to the goal scoring, demonstrating the depth and unselfish play of the attacking unit.  In addition, Hannah Saghir grabbed three draw controls and Sage Nye cleaned up the ground balls in the defensive end.  The Zebras will look to bounce back from this tough loss next week.
