Boys Lacrosse traveled to Braintree on Saturday to take on the Tigers of Thayer Academy, who won the ISL championship last spring. The Zebras got out of the blocks well even though the team did not win many faceoffs early in the game. MX was good in transition and the offense was patient, scoring four goals in the first quarter to go up 4-2. The Zebras scored four more in the second before Thayer scored with eight seconds in the half, extending the lead to 8-3.
A good battle in the third quarter resulted in a goal each. In the fourth period, the MX offense gained good possession time and scored five more for the final tally of 14-5. The defense was terrific, the transition players were effective, and finally the offense was led by freshman Stew Hickey (3/2) and middies Sam Dwinell and Gavin Garrity-Rokous with three goals a piece. Up next, Middlesex faces Lawrence and Rivers in more ISL action.
