The Middlesex Girls' Varsity Tennis team lost to Thayer Saturday afternoon 4 - 11. After getting out of the van, our team was off to a slow start during the warm up. The Zebras struggled to gain momentum as the match wore on against a better skilled and more experienced lineup.
At #4 singles, junior Abby Meyers had an excellent match and proved to be the "tiebreaker queen," winning her third TB this season to take the first set. Abby could be described as a wall: she hit everything back to her opponent with very few unforced errors. Worn down, her opponent struggled to gain back her rhythm and Abby handily took the second set as well 6 - 1. Senior captain Katie Bull also had a commendable match. Despite losing the first set 0 - 6, she gathered herself and came back to win the second set 6 - 4.
Senior Anna Seigel and junior Emma Pratt won their doubles match 8 - 5, thereby securing Middlesex's fourth point against the Tigers.
The team looks forward to a long Patriot's Day weekend with lots of rest before facing Lawrence Academy next week.
