Middlesex Girls' Varsity Ice Hockey battled for 49 minutes before ISL rival Governor's Academy was able to find the back of the net in overtime to secure a 2-1 victory. After a scoreless first period and two power play opportunities for the Zebras, Middlesex took a 1-0 lead off a goal from sophomore Jac White '17 with assists to Caelin Flaherty '18 and Siobhan Morrissey '18. The physicality of the game continued to rise as the second period wore on and Governor's knotted the game at one with three minutes to play in the second. The third period ,saw quality chances by both teams but spectacular saves by both goaltenders sent the game into overtime. With just under a minute to play, Governor's slipped a forward behind the Zebras defense and buried the puck for the win.,
The Zebras will face St. Mark's School on Wednesday, Jan. 21 away at 2:30 p.m.
