Middlesex Girls' Varsity Ice Hockey faced tough opponents in the 2014 Southfield Holiday Tournament on December 19-20. On Friday evening, the Zebras faced a fast Gunnery squad and were unable to put a goal in the net, falling 4-0. In the second game, Middlesex faced Kimball Union Academy in a fierce matchup in Thorndike Rink. KUA took a 2-0 lead before the Zebras converted on the powerplay to cut the lead to one. But a late goal gave the visitors the victory, 3-1. In the final matchup of the weekend, Middlesex faced Millbrook School in a thrilling battle to the end. Millbrook scored first but Caelin Flaherty evened the score off an assist by Leah Olson with 11 minutes remaining in the first period. Millbrook regained the lead with eight minutes to play and the two teams continued to battled for a scoreless two periods. The Zebras pulled goaltender Caroline Silk with two minutes to play and had several opportunities to tie it up but the puck did not bounce their way.
Middlesex returns to the ice after winter break at Holderness on January 10.
