Middlesex football traveled to Braintree to face Thayer on their Homecoming Weekend. After scoring 66 points in the last three games and not having a win to show for it, the team was poised for a breakout game.
Not wasting any time to get on the scoreboard, MX scored on their first three offensive possessions of the game. Jack Lyne '16 opened the scoring on a 29-yard pass from quarterback Austin Dorsey '16. George Morris followed with a gritty 59-yard touchdown run and then added another touchdown on a 39-yard run for a 21-0 lead. The first half scoring continued for MX as James Burr '15 added a 2-yard running touchdown and Dorsey connected this time with John Schuster '15 on a 49-yard pass play. The defensive unit also played an inspired game, allowing Thayer to tally just one touchdown for a 35-6 MX lead at halftime.
Burr would add the last touchdown of the game for MX, from the defensive side of the ball, on a 64-yard interception return. Thayer would score two more touchdowns for a final score of MX 41 and Thayer 20. MX will host Milton Academy this coming Saturday at 2:15.
