Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Prevails Over Dragons

5/26/2013 3:18:00 PM

On Saturday, May 25 the boys’ varsity lacrosse team traveled to Newport, RI for their final game of the season against St. George’s. On paper, the Dragons looked to be interior and thus the contest had all the makings to be a trap game. With temperatures in the mid 40’s, rain and wind, it was not the kind of day one wants to spend near the ocean. Nevertheless, the boys were able to rally and take home an 8-4 win.

The team got off to a great start, scoring three quick goals, and then the game settled down.  The Dragons responded however, and were able to close the margin and make it a 5-4 game before the half.  The boys managed to tuck in three more goals in the third and fourth quarter to make the final score 8-4 and finish our season at 10 - 5.

Sam Carlin had a great day in the faceoff x winning 3/4 of his face offs.  Nick Bain was solid in the cage, and Captain AJ Lucchese took charge of the offensive end of the field scoring four goals and assisting on one.  He thus finished his career at an even 200 points, making him the second highest scorer in Middlesex lacrosse history!
Great job by all the players on this team throughout the spring!
