Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Picks Up Big Win Over St. Marks

4/8/2013 9:46:00 AM

The Middlesex boys' varsity lacrosse team opened yesterday in Southborough, MA against St. Mark's, winning 17-3. Not unusual to the first game of the season, the ball spent a significant amount of time on the ground in the first half.

St. Mark's got on the scoreboard first early in the first quarter and then MX settled down and scored four unanswered goals to finish the first quarter.

We traded a pair of goals to make it 6-3 half way through the second quarter and from then on it was Middlesex's day.  Our defense and two goaltenders shut out St. Mark's for the remaining minutes and our attack and midfield found the net regularly, moving the ball well and finding the open man.The forward line of  Lucchese, Howe, and Fong accounted for nine of our goals while Sam Carlin turned in a solid performance on the faceoffs, winning close to 74% of the draws.

Although it was a nice way to start the season, the Zebras are preparing for what will undoubtedly be a tough schedule ahead. Middlesex will hope to continue their winning ways when they face St. Paul's and Nobles on Wednesday and Saturday of next week.
