The Zebras came out a bit short today in a back-and-forth battle between two rival teams, but they secured a tie after 70 minutes of play.
Middlesex dominated the game in the first stanza, sending balls into the circle, but the offense had a tough time generating true shots on the Brooks' goalie. The visiting team had a few opportunities, but the Zebra defense turned them away. Â
In the second half, Middlesex adjusted their game slightly, but it was not enough to create clean opportunities in the offensive circle. Â The game transformed into a big ball game up the middle with both teams playing in desperation. Â As the time dwindled, the teams prepared for overtime play.Â
Middlesex had a couple of terrific opportunities, including a breakaway, but the Brook's goalie clinched the save (and the tie game) with a gutsy dive.The game remained scoreless after the overtime, leaving Middlesex with a sense of unfinished business, but the Zebras look forward to rebounding when they take on Governors' Academy on Wednesday, October 9 on the road.
