Field Hockey Returns to Winning Ways Against Rivers

10/28/2013 10:12:00 AM

The Zebras struggled on a thick grass surface in today's game against Rivers. With much friction to overcome, the ball stayed in certain areas of the field for a long time, and Middlesex could not work their typical passing game.

Despite the surface, the Zebras tested the Rivers goalie and took 13 shots in the first half to Rivers' one.  Finally, with 2:08 remaining in the first half, the Zebras put the ball past the talented Rivers' goalie to take a 1-0 lead into the second half.

The second half resulted in a similar style of play with the Zebras taking 11 shots to Rivers' one, but Middlesex was able to find the back of the net twice in the second half.  C Mills '15 and Ellie '16 scored on a tip-in and scramble, respectively, and Maddie '14 and Pennie '15 posted the assists.

The Zebras look forward to returning to their turf surface to prepare for league rival Thayer on Parents' Weekend.
