Varsity Field Hockey Falls to St. Mark's

Despite the final score, the Zebras put forth a valiant effort today against an athletic St. Mark's team.  Although Middlesex had to adjust to the Lions' big hit game, they worked as a unit to stop the fast breaks in the first half.

Juliana Fiore and Jenna Doherty worked tirelessly throughout the game, turning away several St. Mark's opportunities and igniting the counter-attack.  St.Mark's did find the back of the cage early in the game, but the play then continued to go back and forth as both team earned corner opportunities in the first half.

In the second half, Middlesex continued to battle, and earned a few close calls in front of St. Mark's talented senior goalie, but they couldn't capitalize on the opportunities.  St. Mark's notched two goals to take the 3-0 lead.

The Zebras continued to play hard until the final minute, and while the score was lop-sided, it was the best the young team had played this season. Freshman Hannah Saghir played a terrific defensive game for the Zebras, and new goalie Leah Olsen made several key saves to keep Middlesex in the game.  Although the players were disappointed with the final score, they bounced back and expressed motivation to work even harder to reach our goals this season.
