Strong Second Half Propels Boys' Lacrosse Past BB&N

5/14/2012 4:19:00 PM

The boys' lacrosse team ventured into Cambridge to play BB&N on Saturday afternoon.  It was a beautiful afternoon on the turf where we met an athletic group of athletes.

Off the opening faceoff we fouled and the Knights scored on the ensuing man up only thirty seconds into the game.  They then jumped into a zone defense and packed it in.  We hadn't seen much zone yet this year and it took us a while to figure it out.  Their goalie made some good stops on shots from too far out.  The pace of the game was far slower than what we were accustomed to.  We finally got on the board halfway through the first period, but BB&N answered right back with one of their own, thus keeping a one goal lead.  Middlesex popped a couple of quick ones in before the quarter to go into the first break up 3-2.

In the second period the game was played pretty much in between the restraining boxes.  We got one more to go into half time in the lead, 4-2.

Finally in the third period we found some chinks in their zone armor and took advantage, netting four goals.  Middlesex added two in the final frame to finish the game at 10-3.  Sam '12 was a force in the faceoff  and on defense, while both of our goalies had solid days.  AJ '13  and Bryson '12 led the way offensively.

This win brings our record to 10-1, and we go into a very competitive week as we face Brooks and Belmont Hill both of whom are having strong seasons.
