Will Mills

Middlesex is excited to announce that Will Mills will be returning to the School as our next Boys’ Varsity Crew coach. A former NESCAC Division III crew captain who has coached at the high school and club levels, Coach Mills brings two decades of knowledge and experience to the Middlesex Crew program. A New York native, he currently works in Concord, MA as a consultant and mentor on student life and leadership. He lives on campus with his partner, Director of Strategic Initiatives Erika Mills ‘99, and their three sons in Kravis House.

After rowing recreationally in high school, Coach Mills attended Connecticut College where he rowed for four years and was a captain on the team. He earned his bachelor’s degree in government with a minor in history. Following college, Coach Mills started his coaching and teaching career at Choate Rosemary Hall as the assistant varsity crew coach. He then made his way to Middlesex where he was the assistant varsity coach and head varsity coach from 2008 to 2016. He comes to the School after 16 years with The Rivers School, most recently serving as their upper school Dean of Student Life.

Outside of high school, Mills also coached the masters women at Community Rowing, Inc. in Newton, Mass. He continues to stay active in the sport in his personal time by sculling in occasional fall races, including the Head of the Charles. We are eager to welcome Coach Mills back to the Middlesex community as he joins us for the upcoming spring season. We look forward to watching the boys’ varsity crew program’s continued success under his leadership!
