A 2007 graduate of Middlesex, Sam first returned to his alma mater as a faculty member in 2011 after graduating from Middlebury College. He rejoined the faculty in 2019 after having stepped away for two years to complete a master’s degree in political science at MIT, where his research focused on representation, political polarization, and the American Congress. Although primarily a political science and history teacher, Sam has also taught both Latin and English during his time at Middlesex, and he continues to coach the boys’ JV soccer team. An avid outdoorsman, he heads the School’s nascent MxNorth outdoor education program; in the summer months, he serves as the director of the Adirondack Trail Improvement Society’s Junior Program.
